About Portable Document Format (PDF) Files
Problems Viewing PDFs?
Download the Adobe® Reader®
Background
HTML (the code behind Web pages) cannot maintain all the original formatting and presentation of many documents. In such cases, we use a different format: Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). PDF documents maintain the look of the original document, and they can be viewed on any Macintosh, PC, or Unix computer.
First, however, you must download and install a free copy of Adobe Reader program. Please use the most current reader from Adobe to ensure compatibility with all PDF files on TTB's site. The Adobe Reader is also sometimes referred to as the Adobe Acrobat Reader.
NOTE: This program is bundled with many software titles and may already be installed on your system.

Downloading Large Adobe PDF Files
Download times of large PDF files vary based on connection speed. If a document is labeled with a megabyte, it should be considered a large file and it may take a while to download to your computer or mobile device. At TTB, PDF file sizes are labeled and megabytes are indicated by MB.

Printing Adobe PDF Files
For best results, when printing Adobe PDF files from within your Web browser, do NOT use the Web browser print facility. Instead, click on the "Printer" icon on the Adobe Reader tool bar at the top of the page. If the PDF file does not print, click "File" on the Adobe Reader tool bar, select "Print" and then click "OK."

Accessibility of Adobe PDF Files
If you are using a screen reader that is not compatible with Adobe Acrobat Reader, Adobe provides online conversion tools to help visually disabled users read PDF documents. They convert PDFs into either HTML or ASCII text, which can then be read by a number of common screen reader programs.
Visit http://www.adobe.com/accessibility/ for more information on how to make PDF files more accessible to people with disabilities.
