TTB ESTABLISHES EAGLE FOOTHILLS VITICULTURAL AREA

On November 25, 2015, we published T.D. TTB-131, Establishment of the Eagle Foothills Viticultural Area, in the Federal Register, a final rule establishing the 49,815-acre Eagle Foothills American viticultural area in Gem and Ada Counties, Idaho.  This new viticultural area is located entirely within the established Snake River Valley viticultural area.  The final rule is effective on December 28, 2015.

TTB undertook this rulemaking in response to a petition from local wine industry members.  We designate viticultural areas to allow vintners to better describe the origin of their wines and to allow consumers to better identify wines they may purchase.  See Docket No. TTB–2015–0006 at Regulations.gov/ for all documents and public comments related to this new AVA.
