TTB ESTABLISHES THE WILLCOX VITICULTURAL AREA

On Monday, September 12, 2016, we published T.D. TTB–143, Establishment of the Willcox Viticultural Area, in the Federal Register. This final rule establishes the 526,000-acre “Willcox” American viticultural area (27 CFR 9.259), in Graham and Cochise Counties in southeastern Arizona. The new Willcox viticultural area is not within any other viticultural area.

TTB issued this regulation in response to a petition submitted by Paul S. Hagar, special projects manager of Dragoon Mountain Vineyard, on behalf of local vineyard and winery owners. We designate viticultural areas to allow vintners to better describe the origin of their wines and to allow consumers to better identify wines they may purchase.

This final rule will be effective on October 12, 2016.  See Docket No. TTB–2016–0002 on the “Regulations.gov/” website for all documents and public comments related to this rulemaking.

COLAS ONLINE 3.12.4 IS COMING SOON

The latest version of COLAs Online will be released at the end of September 2016.

CORRECTION FOR COMMENT PERIOD ON PROPOSED REVISIONS TO WINE LABELING AND RECORDKEEPING REQUIREMENTS RULEMAKING

In the September 9, 2016 GovDelivery version of the TTB Newsletter, we reported we are reopening the comment period for Notice No. 160, Proposed Revisions to Wine Labeling and Recordkeeping Requirements (see Notice No. 160A, published September 8, 2016). We incorrectly stated that comments are now due on or before November 7, 2016. The correct due date for comments is on or before December 7, 2016.

You may comment on Notice No. 160 and view copies of the proposed rule and any comments we receive on it at Regulations.gov/, within Docket No. TTB-2016-0005.  A link to that docket is available on our Wine Notices of Proposed Rulemaking page at TTB.gov/.  Instructions for submitting comments by U.S. mail or hand delivery are included in Notice No 160.
