Greetings! This week's top news includes the availability of two new presentations used by TTB at the recent Craft Brewers Conference, the selection of Mimi Torello as the Assistant Director over application services at the NRC, an announcement that Formulas Online will be updated in the near future, new FDA guidance on menu labeling, and an announcement that Pay.gov will be unavailable on May 12, 2018.

TTB participates in industry conferences and seminars to provide training or relevant TTB-related information.  We also hold our own training events, such as webinars or seminars.  We share our presentations on our TTB Presentations Web page for everyone's benefit.

MIMI TORELLO IS THE NEW ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, APPLICATION SERVICES, AT THE NATIONAL REVENUE CENTER

Ms. Torello was selected to fill this position following the retirement of Kim Flesch.  In this position Ms. Torello has responsibility over all TTB permit, notice, and registration applications and amendments.  Ms. Torello previously worked as a TTB field investigator, in the TTB Market Compliance Office, and most recently as a supervisor applications services at the National Revenue Center.

Formulas Online version 2.7 will be released next week.  This latest release includes improved handling when viewing multiple submissions at once to prevent you from unintentionally updating the wrong one. Stay tuned for additional details!

INDIVIDUAL SENTENCED FOR ROLE IN CIGARETTE TAX EVASION SCHEME

On Monday, May 7, 2018, Un Hag Baeg, of Marina del Rey, California, was sentenced to 46 months incarceration for participating in a scheme to defraud the United States by evading millions of dollars in federal excise taxes due on 143 million cigarettes.

FDA FINALIZES GUIDANCE TO HELP FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS MEET MENU LABELING REQUIREMENTS

In 2010, the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act was amended to require that certain restaurants and similar retail food establishments provide calorie information for standard menu items, including alcohol beverages. By May 7, covered establishments nationwide were expected to comply with the new rules.

PAY.GOV WILL BE UNAVAILABLE ON MAY 12

Pay.gov will be unavailable from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET, on Saturday, May 12, 2018, to accommodate an important disaster recovery exercise hosted by Pay.gov.

Tax Payments, Returns and Operational Reports

If you use Pay.gov to submit TTB tax payments, returns, or operational reports, you will not be able to submit them during this time frame.

Cash Bond Payments

Also, TTB will be unable to accept electronic cash bond payments through Permits Online during this time. If you attempt to submit a cash bond payment via Pay.gov, you will be notified to complete and submit after this exercise. You may submit Permits Online applications without cash bond payments normally during this exercise.
