TTB Establishes Crystal Springs of Napa Valley American Viticultural Area

October 18, 2024│Office of Communications

This week we formally established the Crystal Springs of Napa Valley American Viticultural Area (AVA). This approximately 4,000-acre AVA is located in Napa County, California. It is located within the established North Coast and Napa Valley AVAs. The rulemaking also modified the boundary of the established Calistoga AVA to avoid a partial overlap. See Docket No. TTB–2023–0002 on Regulations.gov for all documents and public comments related to this rulemaking.

Bottlers who wish to label their wines with this new AVA as an appellation of origin must obtain a new Certificate of Label Approval (COLA) for the label, even if the currently approved label already contains another AVA appellation of origin. Please do not submit COLA applications for labels using the new AVA until November 15, 2024, the effective date of this final rule.

You also may view the boundaries of the newly established Crystal Springs of Napa Valley AVA and the modified Calistoga AVA on our AVA Map Explorer.
