Permits Online Tutorials Part 1 AFP P1

Part One - What You Need To Know Before You Apply (Alcohol Fuel Plant)

  Did you Know…?

  • Regardless of the size of your alcohol fuel plant (AFP), if you do not own the land where operations are taking place then you must provide a permission statement from the owner of the land giving TTB, state, and local officers’ permission to access the property.

    • Small plant - An AFP that produces (including receives) not more than 10,000 proof gallons of spirits per calendar year.
    • Medium plant - An AFP that produces (including receives) more than 10,000 but not more than 500,000 proof gallons of spirits per calendar year.
    • Large plant - An AFP that produces (including receives) more than 500,000 proof gallons of spirits per calendar year.
  • Proprietors of small plants only submit a Distilled Spirits Bond when they will not be producing the spirits themselves but will be receiving the spirits from another TTB permit holder.
  • Generally you should have your construction completed and necessary equipment in place or on order before you submit your application.
