TTB Enforcement Activities

The law authorizes us to protect the public by enforcing the provisions of the Federal Alcohol Administration Act (FAA Act) to ensure that only qualified persons engage in the alcohol beverage industry. We are also responsible for enforcing the laws regulating alcohol production, importation, and wholesale businesses; tobacco manufacturing and importing businesses; and alcohol labeling and advertising.

Trade Practices

TTB Trade Practices
Ensures a fair and level playing field nationwide for alcohol beverage industry members of all sizes through a regulatory compliance program and active enforcement of FAA Act trade practice provisions.
 

 

TTB and IRS Whistleblower Program
The IRS may pay awards to people who provide specific and credible information that results in the collection of taxes, penalties, interest or other amounts from the noncompliant taxpayer.
Administrative Actions
Resolves willful violations of alcohol and tobacco laws
Trade Investigations Division
Investigates allegations of trade practice violations in the marketplace, and suspected alcohol or tobacco tax evasion.
National Revenue CenterNational Revenue Center
Provides technical assistance to TTB employees and industry members on related laws and regulations
Tax AuditTax Audit Division
Ensures the payment of excise taxes and compliance with laws and regulations that protect the revenue and prevents unlawful activity in the commodities we regulate.
IntelligenceIntelligence Division
Collects, analyzes, and shares intelligence with other TTB divisions to enforce laws and regulations.
