The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) is a bureau under the Department of the Treasury. We employ staff across the country, including our Headquarters Offices in Washington, D.C., and the National Revenue Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Our Mission
Our mission is to collect the taxes on alcohol, tobacco, firearms, and ammunition, protect the consumer by ensuring the integrity of alcohol products, ensure only qualified businesses enter the alcohol and tobacco industries, and prevent unfair and unlawful market activity for alcohol and tobacco products.

We protect the public by enforcing the provisions of the Federal Alcohol Administration Act to ensure that only qualified persons engage in the alcohol beverage industry. Our programs are designed to help us enforce the laws regulating alcohol production, importation, and wholesale businesses; tobacco manufacturing and importing businesses; and alcohol labeling and advertising. Federal agencies are required to produce strategic plans, annual plans, and performance reports in order to improve public confidence in its Government through transparency and accountability for program results. TTB uses its performance data to justify its requests for funding in its annual budget submission to Congress.
