Permits Online: Application Status

Note: This page contains instructions and screenshots so you can see what to expect when using Permits Online, our online method of applying for a TTB permit, registration, or notice.

The application contact will receive emails from TTB throughout the application process. These emails contain status updates and may communicate actions you must take before we can continue to process your application.

Application Statuses

These are the statuses you might see associated with an application (or record), and what they mean:

APPLICATION STATUS

STATUS DESCRIPTION

Abandoned

TTB has stopped processing this application because either you did not supply the additional/corrected information or supporting documents in the specified timeframe, or we were unable to reach the applicant contact. This is a final application status. 

Accepted

Applies to Personnel Questionnaires and indicates that the PQ has been received by TTB. This is the only status you'll see for PQs.

Active

This status applies to Business Entity applications/records and indicates your application has been approved by TTB. See Viewing Approval Documents for additional information.

Amendment Pending

When you file an amended application for a for a previously approved Business Entity or Commodity Operations record, the status of the record changes to "Amendment Pending." You may not submit additional amendments for this record until TTB takes final action on the pending amendments, at which time the status for the record will revert to "Active" or "Approved" as applicable. The actual amendment application will have a status of "Review in Process" until TTB takes final action on it.

Approved

This status applies to Commodity Operations (permit, registration, or notice) applications/records and to link requests, and it indicates your application has been approved by TTB. See Viewing Approval Documents for additional information.

Closed

The permit, registration, or notice has been terminated and is out of business. This status also applies to entity records when all associated operations are terminated.

Correct Application We’ve reviewed your application and are returning it to you to make corrections. You may refer to the Correction Checklist located under Step 1 of your application for instructions on the specific items needing correction.

Corrections Requested

We've reviewed your application and we need additional information before we can determine if it can be approved.  See Correcting Application Errors and Omissions for more information.

Denied

TTB cannot approve this application because the applicant(s) do not meet the regulatory or statutory eligibility requirements.  This is a final application status.

Review in Process

Your application (applies to all new/amended applications and link requests) has been received and assigned to a specialist for review.

Withdrawn

At your request, TTB has stopped processing this application. This is a final application status.

 

Step-by-Step: How to Check Application Status

You may log in to Permits Online at any time to view the current status of an application.

Log in using your user name and password.  From the home page select the "My Submission" tab.

In the My Records section, locate the applicable application tracking number. You may view the current application status in the status column.

Permits Online makes it easy for you to electronically apply for and update the permit, registration, or notice you need to operate a TTB-regulated business. Once you have registered to use Permits Online, just log in and follow the instructions and prompts for submitting your application package. There is no fee to apply.
