Current Beverage Alcohol Formula Processing Times

This chart shows recent processing information for beverage alcohol formula applications – both those that require sample analysis and those that do not. Use this chart to estimate when your application is likely to be processed.

If you submitted your application on or after the date in the chart, then we have received your application but have not yet assigned it to a specialist.

Our customer service standard is 15 days to complete review of your formula application. For formulas that require sample analysis, our standard allows for an additional 15 days.

Need a Status Check?

  • If you filed through Formulas Online, log into your Formulas Online account – available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – to check on the status of your application.
  • Remember: We have not reviewed any applications received after the date in the chart. If you call us about an application originally submitted after the date posted in the chart, we won't have any information about the status of your application.

Reading the Chart

  • Formula Processing Time: Defined as median number of days it takes to process your application (in calendar days) – from the time we receive it until we either approve or reject it.  This includes any time spent waiting in the queue, analyzing your samples (if required), and sending electronic applications back and forth for correction.
  • Now Processing New Applications Received On: New applications are those we have not yet reviewed. We review formula applications in the order we receive them; however, applications resubmitted for correction always take priority over new applications.  If you submitted your application on or after the date in the chart, then we have received your application but have not yet assigned it to a specialist.
  • Sample Analysis: If your formula application requires a product sample for laboratory analysis, we begin analyzing your sample shortly after receiving it.  After analyzing the sample, we return the formula application to the application queue based on the date we originally received the sample.  If you are unsure if sample analysis is required, use our tool to answer a few questions about your product to help you make that determination.
